Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt to Arijit Singh and Shilpa Rao: Winners of 65th Amazon Filmfare Awards 2020​

The 65th Amazon Filmfare Awards 2020 was hosted in Awesome Assam this year on February 15. The event honoured the talents with the prestigious black lady and also saw several power-packed performances by actors like Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Ayushmann Khurrana and Kartik Aaryan. The show was hosted by Karan Johar, Vick Kaushal and Varun Dhawan.

Best Actor (Male and female): Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt for 'Gully Boy'

Zoya Akhtar's 'Gully Boy' starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt received a lot of appreciation from the audience. It also scored huge at the box office and went on to become India's official entry for the Oscars. Ranveer and Alia won the Best Actor in a leading role (male and female) respectively. The actors were elated as they received the trophy on stage! This is the second time Ranveer has won the Filmfare Award in this category while it's third time for Alia after 'Udta Punjab' and 'Raazi'.

Best Film: 'Gully Boy', Best Film (Critics): 'Article 15' & 'Sonchiriya'

Nitesh Tiwari's 'Chhichhore', Zoya Akhtar's 'Gully Boy', Jagan Shakti's 'Mission Mangal', Aditya Dhar's 'URI: The Surgical Strike' and Siddharth Anand's 'War' were in the race to win the Best Film trophy at the 65th Amazon Filmfare Awards.

Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer 'Gully Boy' bagged the trophy at the awards night. The film was based on the life of Mumbai's rappers DIVINE and Naezy. Helmed by Zoya, the film was released on February 14, last year.

Meanwhile, Anubhav Sinha's 'Article 15' starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Abhishek Chaubey's 'Sonchiriya' featuring Sushant Singh Rajput and Bhumi Pednekar won the Best Film (Critics).

Best Director: Zoya Akhtar

Zoya Akhtar is one of the most talented directors of Bollywood. She has given us fantastic films like 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' and 'Dil Dhadakne Do' and now, 'Gully Boy'!

At the 65th Amazon Filmfare Awards which was hosted in Awesome Assam on February 15, Zoya received the Best Director trophy.

Meanwhile, the film scored huge at the box office and garnered appreciation from the audience as well as the critics. It was released on Valentine's Day last year.

​Best Actor and Actress (Critics)

Ayushmann Khurrana delivered a classic performance with Anubhav Sinha's 'Article 15' which was based on caste discrimination. Also, the actor portrayed the character of a cop for the first time and he aced it! He won the Best Actor (Critics) Filmfare Award at the event.

Meanwhile, Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar were honoured with Best Actress (Critics) Award for their stellar performance in 'Saand Ki Aankh'. The film was helmed by Tushar Hiranandani.

Best Music Album, Playback Singer (Male and female)

The songs from Zoya Akhtar's 'Gully Boy' topped the charts even before the film was released in theatres. And got the Best Music Album award at the 65th Amazon Filmfare Award 2020.

Also, the songs from Shahid Kapoor starrer 'Kabir Singh' received a humungous response. Mithoon, Amaal Mallik, Vishal Mishra, Sachet–Parampara and Akhil Sachdeva shared the Best Music Album award with 'Gully Boy' team.

And Arijit Singh received the Best Playback singer (Male) Award for 'Kalank Nahi' from 'Kalank' while Shilpa Rao got the Best Playback Singer (Female) for 'Ghungroo' from 'War'.
