Ranveer Singh, Anil Kapoor and family hail 'king' Virat Kohli as he breaks multiple Sachin Tendulkar records with his 52nd ODI century

This Sunday turned into a celebration for cricket lovers across the country as Virat Kohli smashed his 52nd ODI century during the ongoing match against South Africa at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi.

Among the many fans cheering him on, actor Ranveer Singh—one of cricket’s most enthusiastic followers—took to Instagram to applaud Kohli’s brilliance.

“Sometimes a king has to remind you why he is the king... Sunday sach mein sakar ho gaya, kasam se,” he wrote.




Kohli’s explosive innings—135 runs off 120 balls, with 11 fours and seven sixes at a strike rate of 112.50—anchored India’s innings after he and Rohit Sharma built a solid 136-run partnership for the second wicket.

His ton not only electrified the stadium but also sparked joy within his family. Minutes after he reached the three-figure mark, Kohli’s elder brother Vikas Kohli shared a proud post on Instagram featuring Kohli’s picture, writing, “Well well well ����.” His sister, Bhawna Kohli Dhingra, also celebrated the moment by posting several pictures of her younger brother from the match.

Anil Kapoor joined in, resharing a post on his Instagram Stories as a tribute to the star cricketer’s latest achievement.

Virat Kohli breaks multiple Sachin Tendulkar records

Kohli’s century helped him surpass Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 51 Test centuries, making him the batter with the most centuries in a single format. It also marked his 83rd international century. He broke more records along the way—registering his sixth ODI hundred against South Africa, overtaking Tendulkar and David Warner, and claiming the record for the most fifty-plus ODI scores at home with 59, eclipsing Sachin’s 58.

Ranchi continues to be a golden venue for Kohli. He has now amassed 519 runs in six innings at the JSCA Stadium, averaging an extraordinary 173 with three centuries and one fifty at a strike rate of 110.19.



In ODIs this year, Kohli has scored 484 runs in 11 matches at an average of 53.77 and a strike rate of 89.79, including two centuries and three fifties. His overall ODI tally now stands at 14,390 runs in 306 matches at a remarkable average of 58.02, featuring 52 centuries, 75 fifties, and a highest score of 183.
