Ranveer Singh applauds Payal Kapadia's 'All We Imagine As Light' team for historic Cannes 2024 win

At the renowned 77th Cannes Film Festival, Indian cinema's influence shines bright as filmmaker Payal Kapadia is honored with the esteemed Grand Prix award for her movie 'All We Imagine As Light'. The team behind the film is still basking in the glow of their victory following the festival's conclusion on May 25. Kapadia's movie secured the second-highest accolade of the event.

Ranveer Singh has extended his wishes to the team of the movie for creating history. The actor took to his Instagram stories and posted a cheerful picture featuring Kani Kusruti, Divya Prabha, Chhaya Kadam, and Payal holding the trophy from the festival. Expressing his delight at their achievement, he wrote, “Scripting history. A moment of immense pride.”

During her acceptance speech, the writer and director expressed her gratitude to the audience, stating, “It was already a dream to be selected for competition, and this was beyond my imagination, so thank you.”

“Because without them, I don't think this film would’ve been possible. It’s three women who have given me so much and really contributed to the film like a family and made it their own. So, thank you, ladies,” she stated.

In her speech, she admitted feeling nervous and mentioned, “Thank you very much to the Cannes Film Festival for having our film here. Please don’t wait 30 years to have another Indian film. It really takes a village to make a film, so it couldn't have been possible without them.”

Directed and written by Payal and produced by Thomas Hakim, Julien Graff, and Ranabir Das, the film features Kani Kusruti, Divya Prabha, Chhaya Kadam, and Hridhu Haroon in pivotal roles.

Meanwhile, Ranveer will reprise his role as Simmba in Rohit Shetty's cop drama 'Singham Again', which also features Deepika Padukone, Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, and Kareena Kapoor. Additionally, he will lead Farhan Akhtar's 'Don 3', slated for a 2025 theatrical release.
