Ever wondered which movies missed out on Rajkummar Rao’s remarkable touch? This feature dives into the intriguing list of films that couldn’t secure the acclaimed actor's involvement. From Ranveer Singh's 'Cirkus', Kartik Aaryan's 'Dostana 2', to Vikrant Massey's 'Chhapaak', discover the cinematic gems that slipped through Rao’s fingers and the stories behind these missed opportunities.

'Cirkus'

Rajkummar Rao addressed rumors that he turned down a role in Ranveer Singh's Cirkus due to discomfort with playing a second lead. Setting the record straight, the Stree 2 star clarified that he was never offered the role in Rohit Shetty's film. Rao expressed his enthusiasm for collaborating with the director if the right opportunity arises.

'Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan'

After the success of Shubh Mangal Saavdhan (2017), the makers returned with a sequel in 2020, with Ayushmann Khurrana leading the cast. Initially, Rajkummar Rao was considered for a role opposite Khurrana but had to decline due to other commitments. Eventually, Jitendra Kumar was cast. The movie also featured Gajraj Rao, Neena Gupta, Pankhuri Awasthy, Maanvi Gagroo, and Manu Rishi in supporting roles.

4/6

'Chhapaak'

Rajkummar Rao was the first choice for Meghna Gulzar's biographical drama Chhapaak, based on acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal's life. Despite loving the script, Rao had to decline due to a packed schedule. He later expressed his disappointment, calling it a missed opportunity. The role eventually went to Vikrant Massey, who delivered a remarkable performance.

'Dostana 2'

Before considering Kartik Aaryan, the makers of the now-shelved Dostana sequel initially approached Rajkummar Rao for the lead role, according to DNA. However, Rao declined the offer due to his commitment to filming The White Tiger, where he starred alongside Priyanka Chopra and Adarsh Gourav.

6/6

'Bank Chor'

According to a DNA report, Rajkummar Rao was initially considered for the role of CBI Officer Amjad Khan in the 2017 black comedy Bank Chor. However, he declined the offer as he wasn't fully convinced about the role. Eventually, the part went to Vivek Oberoi, with Riteish Deshmukh leading the film. The ensemble cast also featured Rhea Chakraborty, Vikram Thapa, Sahil Vaid, and Bhuvan Arora.
