Nana Patekar

Before becoming one of Bollywood’s most intense and versatile actors, Nana Patekar served in the Indian Army. He was commissioned as an honorary captain in the Territorial Army and even took part in the Kargil War. His real-life army experience has added depth and realism to many of his on-screen military roles.

Achyut Potdar

Achyut Potdar, known for playing wise and dignified characters in Bollywood, also served in the Indian Army after completing his education. His time in the forces was followed by a successful career in acting, where his military roots brought a sense of gravity to his performances.

Bikramjeet Kanwarpal

A familiar face in films and television, Bikramjeet Kanwarpal had a solid foundation in discipline and leadership from his time in the Indian Army. Commissioned in 1989, he retired as a Major before pursuing acting full-time. His commanding presence made him perfect for uniformed roles across cinema and TV.

Best remembered as Shakuni Mama from the iconic TV show Mahabharat, Gufi Paintal also served in the Indian Army. He was part of the artillery and posted near the China border. His military stint gave him a disciplined edge, which translated well into his intense character roles.

Following in his father and uncle’s military footsteps, Mohammed Ali Shah served as a Major in the Indian Army, including a posting in the Assam Rifles. After his service, he transitioned into acting, bringing authenticity to roles in films like Haider and Agent Vinod.
