Republic Day: Arjan Bajwa recalls the time he wished he was soldier in real life
Arjan Bajwa
He’s living his life as an actor getting to essay multiple actors on screen. But then, there came a moment when Arjan Bajwa wished that he was a soldier in real life. It was the time when he donned a soldier’s uniform for his web show State Of Siege: 26/11.
He recalls, “To play a soldier on screen is the most exhilarating experience you can ever have. When I first wore the uniform of the Black Cat Commando it gave me a sense of absolute pride and honour.

I can only imagine the kind of pride soldiers take when they wear the uniform. Your whole body language, posture and demeanor changes the moment you put the uniform on. When I saw myself in the uniform, or on screen for the first time I so wished I had done this in real life too. However, I am glad and very honoured to have worn such a prestigious NSG (National Security Guard) uniform on screen.”
One of the fondest memories of Republic Day for Arjan has been watching the parade live in Delhi. He shares, “I used to feel patriotic being a part of the flag hoisting ceremony in school. I remember my dad’s uncle who was in the army took us all to watch Republic Day parade in Delhi once. It was surreal watching your defense forces march-past by in front of you in their uniforms.”
He further adds, “I also remember being seated with my family amongst such elite people of the country and watching the parade. There’s an excitement when the parade is finally getting over and the fighter planes and helicopters of the Indian Air Force fly by over your head. That was the moment I actually made a decision to become a pilot in real life. Though I could not make it and became an actor instead, flying planes is still my first love and I still continue that as a hobby even now. For that one reason my most cherished role would be to play an Indian Air Force pilot in a film.”
