In July 2024, Richa Chadha welcomed her daughter, Zuneyra Ida Fazal, into the world. Initial Feelings of Fear

During the interview with Lily Singh, Richa admitted that her immediate feeling was one of fear. She said, “I was a little bit afraid. There’s climate change, there’s a genocide, there’s so much rubbish going on in the world. Is having a child a good idea?” She reflected on how becoming a parent changed her independent lifestyle overnight, as caring for a baby means taking on great responsibility. Highlighting the challenge of being solely responsible for her child’s nourishment for the first six months, she described it as “a big commitment.” She confessed, “My initial response was fear. I was like, oh my god, is my life over?”.

Transforming Anxiety into Determination

Richa’s initial anxiety transformed into strong resolve after she discovered she was having a daughter. She humorously admitted, “I was like, ‘We live in India, I have to buy a gun’,” reflecting her concern for her child’s safety. But she quickly reconsidered and said, “No, we will see. We will raise her to be strong like me.”

To mark her daughter Zuneyra’s first birthday, Richa recently posted an emotional Instagram reel featuring highlights from her pregnancy and the early days of motherhood. The video beautifully captured the special moments and emotions she experienced throughout this transformative journey. She captioned the post, “For bringing so much colour into all our lives! A year ago I gave birth to a healthy baby girl at Breach Candy Hospital. Labour lasted a few hours, delivery only about 20 minutes, natural birth! Life hasn’t been the same since, particularly me… I feel rearranged from the insides out… my brain, my heart, my body, my soul. Zuneyra was born a year ago and so was I. Reborn as a mom. An entirely new being, than what existed before."
