The Delhi Film Council, which will be set up by the end of this year, will have two offices in Delhi – one in Ashram and one in Karol Bagh, and a film hub in NCR.
The new film hub
“With filmmakers coming to Delhi for their film’s shooting, and amateur Delhi-based filmmakers trying to begin their work here, one major requirement is that of permissions and liaisons with authorities.

From now on, they can come to DFC, and we will arrange permissions for them. In the future, as more shootings will take place here, no filmmaker or even a television show director should ever face any hurdles. Earlier, Mumbai was the only shooting hub. But I don’t want every Delhi-based filmmaker to move out of his hometown for films. If a Delhiite wants to make a film, he can come to us with just a script in hand, and we will take it forward from there,” said Satish Kaushik, adding, “I also see that most of the new generation of young filmmakers belong to Delhi. I’d like to invite them and all filmmakers to be a member of DFC.”
1 Lakh Sq foot area and 100 Crore for the council
“When I read that Satish Kaushik wanted to set up a film council in the city, I immediately approached him,” said Delhi-based real estate developer Kapil Aggarwal, who signed an MoU with Kaushik at the Assocham House in Delhi on Saturday, “The council will be set up in one of our upcoming entertainment malls in NCR. Inside the mall, we have allotted 1 lakh sq foot area for DFC, which will take care of all the requirements of a filmmaker – a shooting studio, vanity vans, spot boys, actors, extra actors, shooting staff, makeup artists, electricity support, multiplexes and miniplexes, and even helicopters and zip lines for a bird’s eye view for shooting, etc.” When asked as to how much he has invested in DFC, Kapil said, “I have invested `100 crore as of now to set it up. In the future, we might need to put in more.”

International Technology
“One of the reasons why Indian films are lagging behind as compared to international films is lack of technology. We have on board the New York Film Academy, which will provide all the latest technological equipment to filmmakers, along with a team of techies that will educate them on using technology in films,” said Kapil.
Delhi will surpass Mumbai in shooting
“Today, there are hardly any films being shot in Mumbai. Shootings are not happening there anymore. With filmmakers flocking to Delhi, I’m sure that soon Delhi will surpass Mumbai in terms of film shooting. Even a small city has various councils, so it was high time there was one for films here,” said Manoj Mittal, who’s been working along with Kaushik for more than a decade.
