Saif Ali Khan: The stock market in ‘Baazaar’ is just a metaphor

Saif Ali Khan’s last few releases have not worked at the box office. In fact he delivered his last bona fide hit with 'Race 2' in 2013. The actor however has 'Baazaar' up for release. Talking about his role the Saif reveals, “I play a Gujarati businessman called Shakun Kothari who is successful and ruthless but also slightly dangerous. The film revolves around the stock market and I remember telling Nikkhil (Advani, producer) that, many films that were centered on stock markets have been difficult for me to understand. Some of the numbers and figures have been a bit much for me. He told me that it doesn’t matter whether you understand the stock market or not because the film is about good vs bad and about crossing lines. The stock market in

is just a metaphor. It was a tough role to pull off because I had to play a Gujarati man with an accent but had to make sure that it wasn’t reduced to a caricature. I had to also make him look cool and I had a really good time doing it.”
