Ranbir Kapoor has gone on to become the most successful A rated film in the history of Indian Cinema and has already placed itself in the Rs 500 crore club. The audience is showing their love by buying tickets but there has also been a lot of brickbats that are coming towards the films for its misogynistic lens, especially the book licking scene which involves Ranbir Kapoor and Tripti Dimri.
Triptii Dimri's BRUTALLY Honest Interview On ANIMAL, Her CRUSH Ranbir Kapoor, INTIMATE Scenes
Now the director has come clean on what he was trying to portray through that scene. In an interview with Baradwaj Rangan the director confirmed that the film was made with the intention of creating a trilogy and highlighted that relationships with Zoya and Ranvijay will be explored in the second part of the trilogy. Speaking about the boot licking scene, he went on to share that he didn't add the scene to piss anyone off or irritate someone.
He added that the scene was a nice way to plant the thought that Ranbir’s character has also gotten connected with Triptii’s character. He highlighted that Ranbir’s character feels a mild connection to Triptii’s character when she confesses to him that she had come with the bad intention into his life and she fell in love with him and won’t be able to handle his hatred and how she understood that how much he loves his father.
So the boot licking scene was all about him testing her. Sandeep also shared that he isn’t sure how many understand the emotion behind the scene… and everyone began talking about how one can ask to lick the boot etc. The point is that you are now connected to her and now you have entered a very dark phase.
Released on December 1, 'Animal' is to date rulling on the box office. Now with film like 'Dunki' releasing today and 'Salaar' tomorrow, the movie will notice a difference in the business collection.
