Sanjana Sanghi celebrates 13 years of 'Rockstar'; Says, 'The day that changed the course of my life, forever'

'Rockstar' starring Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjana Sanghi is one of the most beloved Hindi movies of all generations. The film released in 2011, with Ranbir Kapoor playing the lead Janardhan and it helps his journey into the world of music and heartbreak take him to self-destruction. His character was one of those characters that changed one's life forever when he appeared in the storyline, and everybody even writes memoirs of that character. As the film turned 13, Sanjana Sanghi celebrated the anniversary of the film.

To mark the occasion Sanjana chose to post a heartfelt note on Instagram about how 'Rockstar' changed her life. In a post she said, “our 11•11•11 anniversary | The day that changed the course of my life, forever. 13 years later, sitting here having my morning chai in my home in Mumbai, staring at this stunning first print poster up in my living room, from the day of Rockstar’s release – before I rush off to set. Little Mandy may never have been able to visualise this for herself. To Rockstar, and the most precious people & memories it has given me, forever & ever.”

'Rockstar', directed by Imtiaz Ali, stars Nargis Fakhri as the lead character with a glittering cast of actors such as Aditi Rao Hydari, Piyush Mishra, Shernaz Patel, Kumud Mishra, Aakash Dahiya, and Shammi Kapoor. The film is based on Janardhan, a young guy who thinks heartbreak will give him his inspiration for a music career. But once there, it leaves him only on the road of emotional turmoil and self-destruction, capturing artistic passion and sacrifice at its best.

Though overwhelmingly popular, 'Rockstar' didn't go unscathed by critics. Imtiaz Ali spoke to Netflix India wherein he said that the die-hard fans reacted to him when he termed the movie "flawed." According to him, he believes that constructive criticism is very important but this self-reflection and acknowledgment sometimes creates a controversy. However, 'Rockstar' is a huge commercial success since it grossed significantly and it became one of the top-grossing films in 2011.

Rockstar is among those still a favorite even today, for its music performances and emotional depth that had the public in awe much long after it was written.
