Sanjay Dutt’s daughter, Trishala Dutt, has sparked curiosity with a cryptic social media post about family and mental health. Just 15 days after the actor wished her on her birthday (August 10), Trishala took to Instagram on August 25 to share a long note, emphasising that “family is not a free pass to mistreat.”
“You’re allowed to protect your peace”
In her post, Trishala wrote, “Not everyone who shares your blood deserves a place in your life. Sometimes, the most draining, invalidating, and dismissive people we know carry the title ‘family.’ You’re allowed to protect your peace. You’re allowed to go low-contact or no contact. You’re allowed to choose your mental health over preserving the family image.”
She further added, “Because ‘family’ is not a free pass to mistreat, manipulate, or guilt-trip you. You DO NOT owe continued access to anyone who keeps hurting you — even if they raised you. When a parent cares more about how the family appears to the world than how it actually feels to live in it, that’s a problem.”
While Trishala did not name anyone in her note, it quickly triggered speculation about her relationship with her father Sanjay Dutt. However, it is worth noting that just weeks earlier, on the actor’s 66th birthday (July 29), Trishala had shared a nostalgic picture with him, captioned: “Love You More Each Day.”
Trishala’s life away from limelight
Born in 1988 to Sanjay Dutt and his first wife, actress Richa Sharma, Trishala faced tragedy early when her mother passed away in 1996 due to a brain tumour. She currently lives in the United States, where she works as a psychotherapist, and mostly stays away from the Bollywood spotlight.
Sanjay Dutt, meanwhile, married actress Maanayata Dutt in 2008. The couple welcomed twins, Shahraan and Iqra, in 2010. While Trishala remains private, Shahraan and Iqra occasionally feature on their parents’ social media posts, often giving fans a glimpse into the Dutt household.
