Sanjay Leela Bhansali speaks on 5 years of 'Padmaavat'; says, 'It was traumatic' - Exclusive

On January 25 when Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s mesmerising magnum opus turned five years old, both his lead pair Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone messaged the epic director recalling the making of the beautiful film.
“It is indeed a beautiful film, and I am extremely proud of . But making it was not easy at all. In fact it was traumatic,” recalls Bhansali who was physically assaulted by protestors in Jaipur where his set was ransacked and destroyed.
Bhansali would rather not think of what he went through.“When I look back I want to think of only the good memories. Ranveer and Shahid Kapoor were so powerful. Ranveer had the more aggressive role. But Shahid gave a quietly effective performance. As for Deepika, she has never looked more beautiful. She is a wonderful actress and so lovely.”
Bhansali has done three films with Deepika and Ranveer, each a blockbuster.
Incidentally, Deepika had another release exactly five years later on the same day January 25 this year. Pathaan too is all set to create history.
