Satish Kaushik was paid Rs 500 for his first role, which he celebrated with two cold-drink bottles


Satish Kaushik passed away on Wednesday at the age of 66. The actor suffered a heart-attack. His sudden death is mourned by his industry friends who think his void can never be fulfilled. Satish had started his career with 'Chakra' starring Naseeruddin Shah and Smita Patil. The film released in 1981 and his first paycheque was Rs 500.

The actor had gotten this small role with the help pf his classmate from NSD named Suhas Khandke who was assisting on the film. Satish had revealed that he was damn happy when he got his firsy salary of Rs 500 in an interview with indianexpress.com. He had shared that, he was so excited that he jumped from one platform of the station to another because he wanted to catch a fast train. People on the station started shouting, 'marega, kya kar raha hai?' but little did they know that Satish was so excited to start his career as an actor. He celebrated his first acting job and salary with two bottles of cold drink.

Satish further revealed that during the same shoot, Rajkumar Satoshi who was the first AD on the film said to him that he's a good actor. Satish was quite happy to hear that. As an actor he is widely known for his films like 'Mr India', 'Ram Lakhan', 'Saajan Chale Sasuraal' amidst more.

He turned director and helmed films like 'Tere Naam', 'Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai', 'Milenge Milenge', 'Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hai', amidst more. His last film role will be in Kangana Ranaut's 'Emergency'.

The actor's cremation will take place in Mumbai at 5pm today. He is survived by his wife and daughter.
