'Scam 1992' actress Shreya Dhanwanthary laments about buying a house in Mumbai

Actress Shreya Dhanwanthary, best known for her roles in shows like Scam 1992, The Family Man, and films such as Why Cheat India, has voiced her frustration over the rising real estate prices in Mumbai.

In a recent post on X, the actress expressed her views on the matter, calling buying a house in the city a "scam" and a "foolish and stupidly expensive dream."

Shreya took to her X handle and wrote, "I'm gonna say it: I think buying a house in Mumbai is... a scam. And I hate that I still want to fulfil that very foolish and very stupidly expensive dream." Her honest admission resonated with many of her followers, who agreed with her sentiment.

As soon as Shreya shared her note, netizens expressed their agreement and advised her to consider renting a house instead of buying one in the city. One user wrote, "It's same for all the MNC locations," while another said, "Trouble is, the alternative is not always good. I avoided it for a long time, managed quite well, and financially it made a lot of sense, but eventually caved in."

Shreya Dhanwanthary made her debut in the 2009 Telugu film Josh and later made her Bollywood debut with Why Cheat India in 2019. However, it was her portrayal of journalist Sucheta Dalal in Hansal Mehta's Scam 1992 that catapulted her to fame. Post Scam 1992, she has appeared in several other shows and films, including Guns and Gulaab, Mumbai Diaries, and R Balki's Chupp, opposite Dulquer Salmaan.
Shreya Dhanwanthary will next be seen in OTT film Adbhut alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The trailer was unveiled a few weeks ago. The film follows the story of a couple who visit a secluded villa. Nawaz shared the trailer on Instagram, captioning it, "Truth exists beyond belief - 'ADBHUT' Trailer! Releasing on 15th September". The film, directed by Sabbir Khan, promises to take viewers on a thrilling paranormal journey.
