See how Brahmastra matches up to India's biggest overseas hits

Brahmastra has been posting promising box office numbers from India and abroad. It's been enough to give hope to film industry faithfuls that the tide could turn for Indian films, as audiences get back into the habit of watching films in theatres. According to trusted sources Brahmastra could earn more than $9 million at the overseas box office on its opening weekend. That would mean it's going to replicate the success of such hits like Padmaavat and Dangal. ETimes brings you the list of India's biggest overseas hits and how much they earned from foreign countries. We've not included historic hits like Disco Dancer, which adjusted to inflation, have big numbers. Instead, we're stick to the actual bounty these movies managed in overseas markets.

Dangal - $233 million

Aamir Khan's Dangal smashed some historic box office records, in India as well as in foreign countries. Aamir's films have always enjoyed mind-boggling success in China and Dangal was no different. It raked in a staggering $217 million in collections from foreign locations. Needless to say, it remains one of Disney's most successful worldwide releases, despite the fact that it's an Indian film and not a Hollywood production.

Secret Superstar - $126 million

Speaking of Aamir Khan and China's connection, no other film has benefited more from the star's popularity in the Mandarin nation than Secret Superstar. A small budget film, this movie featuring Aamir and Zaira Wasim earned $103 million from China alone. Converted to rupees that's a whopping haul of more than 800 crores.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan - $75 million

Salman Khan's biggest success of all time, not counting his iconic hits from the 90s, Bajrangi Bhaijaan impressed audiences in India and the world over. Salman's films earnes massive numbers in three key international territories - US, China, Canada and Europe.

Baahubali 2 - $60 million

India's biggest box office success of all time, SS Rajamouli's Baahubali 2: The Conclusion broke every single box office record that people could think of. Among its many feats was a $60 million overseas haul that brought unheard of numbers from the US, UK and Middle East. Such was the craze for Prabhas' fantasy-mythology movie that many international theatre chains increased the number of shows so that people who had lined up for hours, could watch the movie.

The biggest success of Ayushmann Khurrana's career, Andhadhun posted unexpectedly impressive box office figures not just from India but overseas markets, too. The film's slick, international presentation and a genuinely smart screenplay impressed audiences in countries like the US, UAE and China.
