Ajay Devgn had the chance to work alongside Kajol in 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai,' but for undisclosed reasons, he declined the offer. The role ultimately went to Shah Rukh Khan, contributing to the romantic comedy's immense success during the 1990s. The film is one of the mst loved films in Bollywood and it has achieved a cult status over the years.

Yash Chopra, the esteemed filmmaker, was keen on casting Ajay Devgn as Rahul Mehra in his psychological thriller, 'Darr.' However, due to Devgn's prior commitment to a project in Ooty, he couldn't respond promptly to Chopra's offer. Consequently, Shah Rukh Khan was cast in the role, delivering a stellar performance that is regarded as one of his finest. The Yash Chopra-directed film, which also starred Juhi Chawla and Sunny Deol in key roles, remains a memorable cinematic experience.

In 1995, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan joined forces for Rakesh Roshan's action drama 'Karan Arjun.' Sanjay Leela Bhansali initially approached Ajay Devgn for the lead role in his period drama "Bajirao Mastani." However, Devgn declined the offer reportedly due to disagreements over terms and conditions, including his fees, according to TOI. Subsequently, the role went to Ranveer Singh, whose portrayal of Bajirao I garnered widespread acclaim, contributing to the film's box office success, exceeding Rs 300 crore globally. Alongside Singh, the movie featured Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra in pivotal roles.
