Shahana Goswami recalls the buzz over 14 kisses with Randeep Hooda in 'Ru Ba Ru'; reveals how things have changed now: 'I've done more s*x scenes, but no berating comments'
Shahana Goswami will be seen next with Manoj Bajpayee in 'Despatch'. The actress who's remembered for many of her movies has opened up on how times have changed in Hindi cinema and how today, the reaction towards intimate scenes in a movie have also changed. This came from how there was such scrutiny over her kisses with Randeep Hooda in 'Ru Ba Ru'. The film has released in 2008 and there was a huge buzz around the number of kisses in it.
Shahana revealed that she was shocked that people actually counted the number of kisses. She said during a chat with News18, "People kept saying there were 14 kisses. Back in the day, it was something which was clearly problematic. People didn't understand that the reason why there were that many kisses in the film is because they were living together. It was a natural thing between the couple. It was made into a bigger thing - a kiss in a Hindi film was earlier made into a big deal. Now everything has come to a more real, authentic honest portrayal of life."
She further added, "Women's agency has also changed in the last twenty years. That also has played a role in how sensuality, affection, all that is depicted in cinema has changed. Today, me saying that I feel comfortable in expressing myself that way as an actor could be taken a wrong way, or still be taken a wrong way. But whatever interactions I've had with people on social media, I've never come across any berating comments, even though, I've done more sex, make-out and masturbation scenes than most actors. But I don't think I've felt any slander because of it."
