The movie starred Manoj Kumar in the lead role, and its narrative revolved around Bhagat Singh and his companions Rajguru and Sukhdev and their courageous struggles and martyrdom. The movie drastically changed the perception among the people regarding Bhagat Singh. The songs such as 'Mera Rang De Basanti Chola' and 'Ae Watan' are the gems from the very movie. Ajay Devgn gives an outstanding performance as Bhagat Singh in Rajkumar Santoshi’s 'The Legend of Bhagat Singh.' This film depicts his life starting from childhood to his upbringing as a young revolutionary and his later life in prison, up until he was sentenced to death. It offers a deep insight into Bhagat Singh’s ideologies, his fight against British oppression, and his vision for an independent India. 'Rang De Basanti' (2006)

Unlike all the traditional historical films, 'Rang De Basanti'(2006) directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra draws a line connecting today's India's youth to its revolutionary history. It follows a bunch of laid-back college students who after acting in a documentary as Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad, and their fellow revolutionaries, begin to realize the dreadful state of corruption and injustice permeating modern India. Their metamorphosis is akin to the fierce spirit of the martyrs, hence, making the film an intriguing take on patriotism. The film connected to the people on an unparalleled level deeply and emerged as a cultural sensation and revolved around its emotionally charged storytelling, soul-stirring music, and strong performances.

'23rd March 1931: Shaheed' (2002)

A deeply moving film directed by Guddu Dhanoa, '23rd March 1931: Shaheed’ (2002) was released at almost the same time as 'The Legend of Bhagat Singh', which served as yet another tribute to his life. Bobby Deol depicted the character of Bhagat Singh while Sunny Deol took the role of Chandrashekhar Azad, both giving power-packed performances. The movie captures essential events in Bhagat Singh’s life such as the Lahore Conspiracy Case, Assembly Bombing, and steadfast opposition towards British rule. Although it had a rather simplistic narrative, the movie successfully kept the spirit of Shaheed Diwas alive, reinforcing the sacrifices made by India’s martyrs.
