Humble start

While Shahid Kapoor is a big star in Bollywood today, very few know that he has had a very humble beginning to his career. The actor worked as a background dancer in Subhash Ghai’s ‘Taal’. One of the songs featured Aishwarya Rai Bachchan getting wrapped in a white cloth. The guy draping her was none other than Shahid.

He was also a part of background dancers in late filmmaker Yash Chopra’s ‘Dil Toh Pagal Hai’ starring Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit, and Karisma Kapoor.

Rejections

Like many others, Shahid Kapoor also has had his share of struggles while making it big in Bollywood. In fact, the actor was reportedly rejected as many as 100 times before he bagged his debut film, ‘Ishq Vishk’ co-starring Amrita Rao.

The actor has also mentioned in one of the throwback interviews that there were times when he had no money to go to auditions.

First Indian actor to fly the American F-16 aircraft

Shahid Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor starrer ‘Mausam’ might have failed to impress the audience at the box-office, but the film turned out to be significant for the actor.

Shahid reportedly learnt how to fly real aircraft for the movie. In fact, he is the first Bollywood actor to fly the American F-16 Super Viper and underwent training for over a month, before taking his big flight.

Kapoor and Khatter

While Shahid is popularly known for his surname ‘Kapoor’, he reportedly used the surname ‘Khatter’ in his passport.

The surname belongs to actor Rajesh Khattar, Ishaan Khattar’s father and Shahid’s mother Neelima Azeem’s former husband.

Connection with Naseeruddin Shah

Shahid Kapoor’s father is now married to actress Supriya Pathak who is Shahid’s stepmother. Supriya is the sister-in-law of veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah.

Supriya’s sister Ratna Pathak is married to Naseeruddin and this relationship makes the actor Shah’s step-nephew.

Turned vegetarian

Shahid Kapoor is one of the actors in Bollywood who have turned vegetarian. The actor, who has been vegetarian for many years now, has recently turned vegan.

Reportedly, Shahid Kapoor changed his choices when he read a book titled ‘Life Is Fair’ by Brian Hines. The book left such a deep impact on him that he instantly gave up meat.
