' released, the film has been appreciated for its authentic portrayal of India’s small towns. The film, directed by Shree Narayan Singh, and starring Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor, is a social drama that revolves around electricity issues in our small towns.

As the film is set in Tehri (Uttarakhand), the entire cast learned Garhwali language to stay true to their characters. During their visit to Tehri, the actors conversed with the local people to understand the dialect. That’s not all. Shahid and Shraddha, along with the director, picked up clothes and accessories from the local markets, to get the local flavour down pat. Often, the duo would also go on bike rides to soak in the sights and sounds of the area. Apart from Shahid and Shraddha, the film also stars Yami Gautam and Divyendu Sharma in pivotal roles.

'Batti Gul Meter Chalu', produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Nitin Chandrachud and Nishant Pitti, releases on September 21.
