Shakti Kapoor recalls parents walking out of theatre over villainous roles; asked him to take up roles with Hema Malini and Zeenat Aman

Veteran actor Shakti Kapoor, who made a name for himself starring in villainous roles, spilled the beans about how his on-screen image once shocked his parents. Recalling the time when his family was troubled over the kind of roles he portrayed on the big screen, he revealed that his parents even walked out of a movie screening in anger.

Speaking to AlphaNeon Studioz, the veteran star recalled an incident when two of his films were released around the same time and another was set to hit the big screens. He said, "Another big film had just been released called 'Insaniyat Ke Dushman', so I told my parents to go and watch the film. Both my parents went to watch it."

However, his parents ended up leaving the screening fuming as his first scene showed him pulling a girl's dupatta. Recalling the moment, he said, “My father immediately told my mom to get up and leave the theatre. He said, ‘he used to do this outside and now he’s doing this on the big screen also. Look what he’s doing. I don’t want to watch this film.’”

The actor added that his parents later scolded him over his choice of roles, asking, "What type of roles are you doing? And see with whom you’re doing such things?" He also shared that they asked him to take on more positive roles and to star alongside actors like Hema Malini, and Zeenat Aman. "Why are you doing roles of a Gunda?” he recalled them asking.

Sharing his struggle with his parents, he blamed his looks for the kind of roles he was being offered. He shared, "After looking at this face no one is giving me role of a good person or a hero.”

Besides his parents, his daughter, Shraddha Kapoor also voiced her disapproval of her dad's roles. In an earlier interview with PTI, Shraddha admitted, “I used to shout at him for doing villain roles. I used to be sad about it (playing villain). But then my mother explained he is just acting.”
