Sharad Kelkar lends his voice to a film on women empowerment

Apart from his acting chops, Sharad Kelkar is also quite popular as a dubbing artiste. He has lent his voice to animation films and even the Hindi remake of the superhit film, ‘Baahubali’.

Now, the actor has lent his voice to one more project — a special short film called ‘Meri Khoj Mere Haath’, which released on the occasion of International Women’s Day (March 8), this year. The film marks debut of Trishna Samat, who has also written its script. Trishna, 28, is a Mumbaikar, and her project has received immense support from many celebs, including actors like Vicky Kaushal, Taapsee Pannu, Sonal Chauhan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Guru Randhawa and Zareen Khan.

A daily talked to Sharad about lending his voice for the film. The actor said that when Trishna narrated the script to him, he was more than willing to lend his voice for it. He loved the honesty and simplicity of the concept and also, the fact that it addresses an important cause.

On the acting front, Sharad, who has worked in films, is also quite active on television, though he has become quite choosy about his small-screen projects. Talking to Bombay Times earlier, he had said, “If I don’t play different characters, I won’t grow as an actor. Had I been running after money and fame, I would have taken up a series that would last three years. I would do that only when I don’t want to learn as an actor, which will never happen. I don’t aspire to become the highest paid actor on TV by working in a daily soap for 25 days a month. I have never repeated myself and I like to break stereotypes. I don’t want to chase the tag of a star, I want to be a good actor. When you are a star on TV, you end up getting offers to play similar roles.”
