Shekhar Kapur shares a post on his film 'Masoom'; sparks new debate about its inspiration

Shekhar Kapur recently tweeted that a lot of people asked him to change the script of his 1983 directorial debut film 'Masoom', however, he refused to do so and the filmmaker is glad that he dared to silence those voices and followed his vision.
Sharing the poster of the film, he tweeted, "So many people that ‘knew' wanted me to change the script of 'Masoom'. People that were famous, experienced and ‘knowledgeable' told me it had no drama, no villain.I was naive, unknown, unskilled and untrained. But rebellious. Thank God for that."
For the unversed, the film's story was of a man whose life turns upside down when he gets to know that he has an illegitimate son from a past affair.
The cast of the film included Naseeruddin Shah and Shabana Azmi, along with Jugal Hansraj and Urmila Matondkar as child actors.
Soon, after his tweet, a debate sparked over social media over the film's script. Many social media users said the film was a remake of Hollywood flick 'Man Woman and Child'. Some even thanked Kapur for giving a happy ending to the Hollywood film's story. While others questioned the "his" script.
