Gunther finally accepts Sami Zayn’s challenge for the World Championship on WWE RAW

Ever since losing his Intercontinental Title to Bron Breakker, Sami Zayn has been hellbent on having a chance to grab Gunther’s World Heavyweight Championship. He has been challenging Gunther every week on RAW, a ritual that started in Calgary, Canada, when he challenged Gunther for the first time, for the World Championship. Gunther on the other hand, has been mocking and teasing Sami, but not accepting his challenge.Finally, on last night’s episode of RAW, Gunther accepted the challenge from Sami, albeit after hurting Sami inside the ring.

Sami Zayn has had his eyes set on Gunther’s World Heavyweight Championship, since getting beaten for his intercontinental championship by Bron Breakker at SummerSlam. He has been constantly on Gunther's face, instigating him and asking for a chance to contest for the World Heavyweight Championship, to which Gunther has constantly denied. Sami has even challenged his ego quite a few times, by attacking him and calling him a coward, but that was all to no avail, as Gunther did not break any sweat about it. Last week on RAW, Sami even defeated Gunther’s team partner, Ludwig Kaiser, in a one-on-one match to prove his point. After the match, Gunther even teased to accept the challenge from Sami, but not to be, as he was only mocking Sami and the audience present in the arena. Even last night, Gunther came out making fun of Sami and had no intentions to grant him the match.

Here, Sami played his ‘ace’, when he mocked Gunther for losing to Zayn at WrestleMania XL, for the Intercontinental Championship. He proceeded to say that Gunther’s dad called him a loser, because of losing to Sami, which infuriated the “Ring General”. Gunther attacked Sami to start a melee inside the ring, which resulted in Gunther delivering a Power Bomb on Zayn and then finally accepting the challenge for a World Heavyweight Championship match. Now, the two highly talented superstars are going to go one on one on RAW next week, with the World Title at stake.
