Thirty-seven years ago filmmaker Shekhar Kapur worked with the legendary actor Amrish Puri and created the iconic Mogambo in his directorial
Mr India. To date, Amrish's baritone voice uttering the dialogue:
Mogambo Khush hua - remains immortal. And now we have learned that thirty-seven years later, the filmmaker is set to work with Amrish's grandson-actor Vardhaan Puri.
If sources are to be believed, the internationally acclaimed filmmaker has taken on the role of executive producer and will be mentoring Vardhaan on a medical thriller. The medical drama would be creatively headed by him. From what we have gathered, the film is inspired by true incidents and highlights the issue of violence against doctors and the pressing need for safety regulations for the medical fraternity. "The project is at the nascent stage. However, it is an interesting concept and the team is very excited about it," a source close to the development shares.
Furthermore, we have also learnt that actress Manisha Koirala, fresh off the success of
Heeramandi plays an integral part of the film. "Manisha has given a nod to the film and will be headlining the cast. Shekhar, his songwriter daughter Kaveri Kapur and Vardhaan flew to Kathmandu, Nepal to narrate the story to the actress," the source adds. The movie is likely to go on floors by the end of the year. The team is currently locking other cast members and the director for the project.
We reached out to Shekhar and Manisha but the two didn’t respond to our queries. Vardhaan, on the other hand responded, saying he cannot comment on the same.
