Shreya Ghoshal pays emotional tribute to Indian Armed Forces during Mumbai concert: ‘Maa Tujhe Salaam is my way of touching their feet’
Patriotism took centre stage at Shreya Ghoshal’s All Hearts Tour concert in Mumbai, as the singer paused her set to pay tribute to the Indian Armed Forces. During her heartfelt rendition of AR Rahman's Maa Tujhe Salaam, Shreya became visibly emotional while addressing the crowd, leaving many in the audience teary-eyed and reflective.
She acknowledged the peace and safety citizens enjoy because of the selfless service of Indian soldiers. “Every second that we are standing here, we are not even having a single worry in our mind because there is somebody protecting us at the border," she said. “Any place you ever see an army man, navy, or air force officer, we should touch their feet. This song is my way of touching their feet—a Charan Sparsh."
The timing of the tribute added depth to her message, coming just days after India’s Operation Sindoor and its swift retaliation to cross-border hostilities from Pakistan. Shreya thanked the armed forces for their unwavering courage and urged everyone to recognise their sacrifices beyond fleeting moments of gratitude.
Calling for a shared expression of national unity, she told the audience, “I would like that all our bands also be united in this. If everyone sings this together, then I think it will be a very beautiful feeling. I feel this is how we should remember this moment."
As the crowd joined in singing Maa Tujhe Salaam, the concert hall transformed into a chorus of patriotic voices. More than just a musical performance, the evening became a reminder of the debt owed to the brave men and women who serve the country.
