Shreya Sharma: Having two films behind me gives me confidence, but it also reminds me that I’m still learning

Actress Shreya Sharma, who has been seen in films like Pallo Latke and Mastiii 4, opens up about her journey into acting, the challenges of the industry, and how she navigates uncertainty as an actor.

Talking about how acting happened to her, Shreya says it was never a sudden decision. “Acting wasn’t something I woke up one day and decided to do — it found me gradually. As a child, I was always drawn to stories, emotions and performance. I loved observing people, their silences and reactions. Somewhere along the way, I realised acting allowed me to express things I couldn’t always put into words. Once I stepped onto a set, it felt like home, and there was no turning back.”

Reflecting on her journey so far, she admits it hasn’t been easy. “The journey has been incredibly rewarding, but yes, it has been tough. There were moments of self-doubt, long waiting periods and auditions that didn’t work out. Patience was truly tested. But every experience — good or bad — has shaped me. Having two films behind me gives me confidence, but it also reminds me that I’m still learning. I see this phase as foundation-building, and I’m grateful for every opportunity.”

On dealing with insecurity and uncertainty, Shreya shares a candid thought. “Uncertainty is a constant companion in an actor’s life, and insecurity does creep in sometimes. There’s no guarantee about the next project, and that can be unsettling. But I’ve learned to make peace with it.”

She adds, “I focus on my craft, keep working on myself and trust the process. Instead of worrying about what’s next, I try to stay present — training, reading, observing and growing. Believing in yourself on days when no one else does is part of the job, and that belief is what keeps me going.”
