Shweta Tripathi has travelled to Amsterdam to attend a live concert by Hans Zimmer, fulfilling a wish she has quietly held on to for years. A self-confessed cinema enthusiast, she has long admired the composer’s ability to shape emotion through sound and considers experiencing his music live a personal milestone.

Zimmer, a two-time Academy Award winner and recipient of multiple Grammys and Golden Globes, is known for his scores for films such as Dune, Interstellar, The Dark Knight trilogy and Gladiator. For Shweta, his work has not just defined cinematic moments but has also served as a creative reference point over the years.




For her, film music has always been more than background accompaniment. It is often what lingers after the visuals fade. Zimmer’s compositions have remained a steady presence through her journey as an actor, subtly influencing how she engages with cinema and understands emotional rhythm.

Music, she says, is closely tied to her acting process. Before beginning any project, she curates a playlist that reflects her character’s emotional landscape. It helps her register silences, pauses and internal conflicts even before rehearsals begin. In many ways, she believes strong background scores lay the emotional foundation of a scene, shaping how feelings are internalised and expressed.

Shweta shares, “His music has always stayed with me long after a film ends. There’s an honesty and depth in his compositions that really hits you emotionally. As an actor and a student of cinema, I’m drawn to anything that helps me understand emotion better, and his music does that quietly, without explanation. Watching him live feels like the most direct way to experience that energy.”

The concert has also offered her a pause from routine. She sees it as an opportunity to engage with music simply as a listener rather than as a performer analysing craft. She says, “I’m hoping to come back with a renewed perspective. Music plays such a strong role in shaping emotion and storytelling, and seeing it come alive like this feels important.”
