Siddhant Chaturvedi says he is conscious about the choices he makes; 'Everything has to come with consequences...'
Siddhant Chaturvedi as an actor, has portrayed many shades in his career, be it in Gully Boy, Gehraiyaan and now the action packed drama Yudhra. Recently, the actor opened up on how he needs to be morally responsible for the choices he makes, and how that is translated on screen.
While talking to News18, Siddhant said, “As an actor, I’m conscious about the choices I make. Sometimes, you need to understand your own responsibility and the consequences that doing a film like that can have. It’s a very dual situation. You know that there are people like that [who get impacted after watching a film]. If I get a script like that, it’s up to me if I should decide to do it. That’s an answer that lies with me."
He further said that with negative or grey characters, there is a lot of responsibility on one's shoulders as well. He said, “If you play a part like that, you know that it can have an effect on some people. All of it comes with responsibility and I’m truly conscious of the choices that I make. If my character is doing something, there should be consequences or there needs to be a confession or redemption. I wouldn’t be comfortable otherwise."
Hr also said, “I might enjoy watching such films but everything has to come with consequences. I won’t promote anything wrong. Agar mujhe lagta hai ki yeh nahi hona chahiye, I won’t do it. Having said that, I usually keep my opinions to myself. People can watch anything they like. But I feel that if I had that choice, I would rather exercise my conscience. I would want to make these calls keeping my world and upbringing in mind. "
While on Yudhra, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Malvika Mohanan are all set to rock the big screen with their first film together, backed by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. The film has some hardcore and innovative action, like in one of the action set pieces, Siddhant holds a baton used by a conductor, to direct the orchestra as a weapon to kill people- a glimpse of which is seen in the trailer.
Now in an exclusive interview, Siddhant reveals that though he’s doing all the big action, he got slapped by none other than Malavika herself. Explaining the citation, the actress said , “ Ya.. Siddhant got slapped real bad, we shot for this scene in the first schedule of the film, and we were still building our chemistry…In the scene, my character is very pissed with Yudhra’s character, and it was our director Ravi (Udyawar) sir who got extremely excited, and said ‘are tu maar’ "
Cutting in, Siddhant said, “ And we broke the ice and my jaw (laughs)"
“ Also the way the scene was being shot, it would have looked really fake had I not hit him in real …and the very next moment, Siddhant is sitting with an ice pack on his face ( laughs) ” added Malavika who was last seen fighting with Chiyaan Vikram in Thangalaan. During the shooting of Thangalaan, Vikram would often complain that Malavika would end up hitting him for real during the scenes though unitentionally; they only had action action sequneces with each other.
The film is releasing on 20th September, and it also stars Raghav Juyal who is riding high on the success of his last film Kill, where he played the antagonist Fani. Malavika will be next seen in Rajasaab with Prabhas and, Siddhant has Dhadak 2 with Triptii Dimri directed by Shazia Iqbal, and backed by Karan Johar.
