Stuck in a loop: Actors who keep playing the same role

1/5

John Abraham

Typecast As: The silent, brooding action man
Be it Satyameva Jayate, Force, or Attack, John Abraham often plays the same rugged, intense character who lets his fists do the talking. While he fits the action genre well, his characters rarely explore vulnerability or emotional range.

2/5

Kartik Aaryan

Typecast As: The monologue-spouting, “wronged by women” lover boy
Kartik Aaryan rose to fame with Pyaar Ka Punchnama and has since played similar characters — charming, cheeky, and often frustrated with women (Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Pati Patni Aur Woh, Luka Chuppi). Although he's trying to break the mold with thrillers like Freddy and Dhamaka, his rom-com image still dominates.

3/5

Salman Khan

Typecast As: The macho action hero with a heart of gold
From Wanted to Radhe, Salman Khan has stayed loyal to the over-the-top action genre. His characters usually involve lots of slow-mo fight scenes, catchy one-liners, and a larger-than-life image — but not much variation in terms of depth or arc. Audiences often know exactly what to expect when a Salman movie releases.

4/5

Tiger Shroff

Typecast As: Martial arts prodigy/action hero
Tiger is known for his physical prowess, stunts, and dance. However, from Baaghi to Heropanti 2, his roles follow a very similar pattern: high-octane action with little scope for nuanced acting. Audiences rarely get to see him in emotionally charged or layered roles.

5/5

Varun Dhawan

Typecast As: The goofy, hyper-energetic lover boy
While Varun has shown glimpses of brilliance in October and Badlapur, most of his roles fall into the goofy-yet-lovable romantic hero mold (Main Tera Hero, Coolie No.1, JugJugg Jeeyo). Audiences have been waiting for him to consistently take up more layered characters.
