Suchitra Pillai wants to produce something for the middle-aged actors! Here’s who she wants to cast
Known for her work in films like Dil Chahta Hai, Page 3 and Fashion, Suchitra Pillai turned producer with a short film called Who Are You, Nanu? While she began with a short, Suchitra aspires to produce a full-length feature film one day. At this point she might not have a story idea in place, but she is certain of what she wants to produce in the near future.
She tells us, “A feature would be another ball game altogether! However, why not? I would definitely want to produce something whacky for middle aged actors like me. And I would want Jaideep Ahlawat to co-star in it.”
Suchitra shares that in this phase of her life, she’s getting some interesting work to do. She says, “I have been doing some fab work thanks to OTT. I am getting a variety of roles which I never got in my 30s. I am now looking forward to doing a thriller and a comedy though.”
Meanwhile, her first production venture is the story of an eight-year-old Aisha who befriends the phantom of her Nanu’s boisterous 11-year-old self and discovers the journey after death. In an earlier chat with us, Suchitra spoke about her learnings from the experience, saying, “I realised that I have such sweet bunch of friends who went all out making the process easy for me by offering their expertise. I learnt that I’m capable of doing so much more than I knew I was. And that my friends and family who took on the roles of executive producers had so much belief in. Most importantly I learnt that team effort is all it takes to create magic.”
