In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Sunita expressed her disapproval of his entry into politics, stating, "Govinda ke politics mei jaane ka faisla mera nahi tha. Mujhe pasand nahi hai politics." She believes that artists should focus on their craft rather than engage in politics, emphasising that it requires a different mindset. Sunita noted that Govinda is a good person but lacks the qualities needed for political life, as it involves strategic thinking and manipulation, which she feels he may not handle well due to his emotional nature. She suggested that he should concentrate on making a few good films instead.

Govinda and Sunita have two children: a daughter named Tina Ahuja and a son named Yashvardhan Ahuja. The couple has been married since 1987 and has shared many experiences over the years.

On the work front, Govinda started his career in the 1980s and is well-known for working with director David Dhawan on many hit films. Some of their popular movies include 'Hero No. 1', 'Coolie No. 1', 'Saajan Chale Sasural' and 'Partner'. He has also appeared in films like 'Aankhen', 'Dulhe Raja' and 'Bhagam Bhag'. Govinda's last movie was 'Rangeela Raja' released in 2019.
