Sunny Deol shares update on Dharmendra’s health, recalls his father's bond with late Manoj Kumar: 'Wo zamaana waapis nahi aa sakta'
Sunny Deol opened up about his father Dharmendra’s health and his cherished friendship with the late Manoj Kumar at the trailer launch of his upcoming film Jaat in Delhi today.
Dharmendra, who is 89, was recently seen with a bandage on his eye, raising concern among fans. Addressing the media, Sunny clarified that there was nothing to worry about. “Papa ekdum theek hain, cataract ka operation tha chotta tha, aisa kuch nahi,” he assured, stating that it was a minor cataract surgery.
Sunny also spoke warmly about the special bond between his father and Manoj Kumar. “Manoj ji came with our dad only. They both were together in the industry. He had always been a father figure for us, and I have always seen him with my father during childhood. My dad had a great connection with him. I would just say that the films that he did were on India, bahut pyaari thi. Usi se deshbhakti ka silsila shuru hua tha,” Sunny shared.
He went on to recall a touching anecdote that Dharmendra had narrated to him just before he left for Delhi. “Before coming here, dad was telling me that when he was with Manoj ji in the early days, obviously they were struggling, jeb mein paise nahi hote the. Manoj ji used to have money sometimes and whenever he went to buy clothes, he used to tell my dad, ‘Aa lele Dharam, tu vi lele do kameezaan.’ So, such a beautiful bond they had from that time onwards. And, I think that time was great, wo zamaana waapis nahi aa sakta,” Sunny reminisced.
Jaat, which also stars Randeep Hooda and Vineet Kumar Singh, is set to hit theatres on April 10.
