Sunny sir and we are highly upset and hurt by the misrepresentation of the video, says producer Om Chhangani
Hours after a video featuring Sunny Deol appearing seemingly inebriated, struggling to walk straight on the streets of Juhu, and seeming unsteady while getting into a rickshaw went viral, it was later clarified that the incident was part of a shoot. The Bollywood star was actually filming a night sequence in which he had to appear drunk.
Producer Om Chhangani says, “On the night of December 3, we were shooting at the Juhu Circle, when someone recorded the video and shared it on social media. It portrayed Sunny sir aimlessly wandering in a drunken state. This is when he is a teetotaller. The video was taken and posted out of context, and this is a deliberate attempt to tarnish a star’s image.”
He further adds, “It was necessary for us to step forward and address this misrepresentation. Today, we are shooting at Powai, and soon after the video went viral, Sunny sir asked, ‘Yeh kya ho gaya?’ He is obviously hurt by the misrepresentation and so are we. This is in bad taste, especially when the unit is working hard to finish the shoot. Itna bade star ko malign kar rahe ho toh this had to be clarified.”
Ask him if the team is planning to take action against the miscreant, and he replies, “Our primary objective was to inform the fans about the fake video. Taking action against the miscreant is Sunny sir’s prerogative, but I don’t think he intends to take any action against anyone. Some people derive pleasure from being sadists and maligning others.”
The film, tentatively titled, ‘Safar’, which is an official remake of the Marathi film ‘Prawaas’, features Sunny Deol and Simran Bagga. The shoot of the Hindi film, which is directed by Shashank Udapurkar, who also helmed the Marathi movie, is expected to conclude sometime this month.
