Supreme Court rejects plea to delete objectionable scenes from 'Padmavati'
The Supreme Court today dismissed a plea seeking deletion of certain alleged objectionable scenes from the upcoming movie 'Padmavati', terming it as premature.
A bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra was informed that the film has not yet received the certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
"Our interference in this writ petition will tantamount to pre-judging, which we are not inclined to do," the bench, also comprising Justices A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud, said.

Advocate M L Sharma, who had filed the petition, alleged that though the Censor Board has not given a certificate to the movie, the songs of the film have already been released.
Sharma had approached the court seeking a direction for removal of all scenes of alleged 'character assassination' of Queen Padmini from the movie before its release.
Viacom 18, the makers of the Deepika Padukone-Ranveer Singh-Shahid Kapoor starrer Bollywood flick had yesterday said that they have deferred the movie's release which was originally scheduled on December 1.
The plea has sought directions to the Centre, the director of the movie, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and the chairman of Viacom 18, which has co-produced the movie along with the director and the Central Board of Film Certification.

okay here is a question to all, I am sorry as I am not from India I had no idea who Padmavati was till I heard all the higibeegeeez in the news which made me curious..when I tried to find out I was shocked that there is merely a poem on her and then even historians had insufficient evidence to prove her existence. I thought these Indian people have to no life to create such dramas when there is so many other issues with India as a whole eg: POVERTY, LACK OF SCHOOLING and need I say more? Another thing that I didn''t get is that why people are so irrational and emotive when the movie is not even seem by people and yet the only issue that the movie supposedly had intimate scene was clarified by the Director himself. I cannot grasp the logic behind the village cave man type actions of the people. ALSO PLEASE DO TELL IF the movie is banned in India will it be released worldwide??? because it is not a documentary but a movie. if movie is an issue does it mean people can''t write books on her either well then how will her history or legacy live on?? will it die with these crazy peopleRead allPost comment
