Talking about her daughters, Sushmita Sen in one of the recent interviews reportedly said that being a mother at 24 was the wisest decision she made.

The actress said that while in a natural birth, the mother and the child connect through the umbilical cord, in adoption, the mother and the child are connected by a higher power, a connection that one cannot cut off.
She said she had the privilege of experiencing this magical bond twice. She became a mother who has given birth from the heart and has not missed a day of feeling the joy of motherhood.
Sushmita Sen was only 24 when she adopted her first baby girl. She was at the peak of her career and making the decision of adoption was not easy. However, according to her it was the wisest thing she did. The actress said the decision stabilised her life. While people thought it was a great act of charity and wonderful action but it was self-preservation for the actress.
She also added that being an actress is a challenging job; a very self-centered job, wherein one has to be all about oneself. However, she is proud of her 24-year-old self, because she could have delayed the process, ignore the calling but she didn’t do that.
