Late Bollywood personalities Tabassum and Ameen Sayani shared a unique relationship throughout their lives. Not only were they connected professionally, but they also had a personal bond. ETimes had the opportunity to interview Tabassum's son, Hoshang Govil, who was in a state of shock upon hearing about Ameen Sayani's demise. Despite the sorrow, he seized the chance to recount some captivating anecdotes about his late-film legend mother and his cherished uncle, Ameen.

"Let me start with one shayari, which my mom always used to say, "Gujare jo Zamaane woh Zamaane nahi aate, aate hai naye log, purane nahi ate." It is very shocking news for me and my family. We were always in touch, and I am leaving now to visit Ameen's uncle for the last time.
Ameen Sayani and my mom Tabassum worked together for many programmes, stage shows, and radio shows, where my mom used to tell jokes and entertain the audience. It went on for many years and was a very popular show. They have travelled a lot. In fact, he was my mom's guru. My mom always called him a guru and considered him an elder brother. In fact, it might surprise the audience to know that once he was at our place and suggested to my mom that since she has done a lot of radio, television, stage shows, serials, and films, it was time for her to connect with a new audience and start her own YouTube channel. And that is how Tabasum Talkies happened. In fact, he suggested the name for the channel.
I still remember. Every December 21st, Mummy was the first one to wish Ameen uncle a happy birthday, and interestingly, he was the first one to call my mom on July 9 to wish her a birthday. Our family has known each other for more than 60 years. My Nani (Tulsum) and Ameen Sayani's mother used to go to Mushaira and get together. They were very good friends. On December 21st last year (2023), I called Rajil (Ameen Sayani's son) and asked him, 'Can I talk to Uncle?' He said, 'yes', but asked me to speak a little bit louder because he had a hearing problem. The motive behind my call was since mom used to call him every year on his birthday, and since she was not there for the first time last year, I called him to wish him a birthday. It was a very emotional moment for both of us.
I am not in a frame of mind. I am totally shocked. In fact, last week I was talking to Ameen uncle's son Rajil about how me and my wife, Hemali, would come and meet Ameen uncle next week, which is ideally this week. And this is what has happened. Nothing is in our hands."
