The second edition of The Himalayan Film Festival (THFF) culminated with the screening of 'Three of Us' at the Sindhu Sanskriti Kendra in Leh, Ladakh, this past Tuesday. Spanning five days, the festival's objective is to champion budding filmmakers hailing from the Himalayan region. Among the standout films was Taar, a short film directed by Tsering Lhanzes, which got the Best Short Film award. The theme for this year's short competition was 'The Mountains Are Calling.' Filmmaker Amit Sharma, Rima Das, and Dominic Megam Sangma, were the jury members for the short film competition.
Over the course of five days, actors, industry experts, aspiring filmmakers exchange insights. Kenny Deori Basumatary and Vikramaditya Motwane were among those who conducted masterclasses and engaging discussions. Padma Angmo, Commissioner/Secretary of Information for the Union Territory of Ladakh, expressed her delight at the festival's success, with packed screenings and an overwhelming response to the short films, and said,"This is the magic of cinema."
THFF presented a remarkable selection of films from across the country, with a particular focus on content originating from Ladakh and Himalayan states. The program featured acclaimed titles such as 'Haqeeqat,' shot in Ladakh, 'Jubilee,' 'Tora's Husband,' 'Spawo (Warrior),' 'Ama (Mother),' 'Jungwa: The Broken Balance,' 'Lunana: A Yak In the Classroom,' 'Por Thozhil,' 'Sunpat,' 'Lage Raho Munna Bhai,' and many others.
THFF was organised by the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) of the Administration of Union Territory of Ladakh and the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh.
