Throwback to Neetu Kapoor defending her son Ranbir Kapoor after he cheated on his then-GF Deepika Padukone: 'He needed to break off'

Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone reportedly dated each other during their initial days in Bollywood. However, things didn't end on a good note between the two. As per the reports, the actress accused him of cheating on her.

However, RK's mother, Neetu Kapoor, defended her son publicly. The veteran actress had stated that something was "missing" in Ranbir and Deepika's relationship. Let's take a look at the resurfaced video.

An old video of Neetu Kapoor has resurfaced on the internet. In the viral clip, RK's mother can be heard saying that her son had only one girlfriend. Neetu stated that she doesn't think Ranbir had many girlfriends. She said, "He's had just one girlfriend; that's Deepika."

The actress went on to share, "I think maybe there was something missing in their relationship." The veteran actress added that "something" was not there in the relationship, or "maybe he was not himself, and he needed to break off."

She further expressed that everyone has relationships, and then "they move on." Neetu Kapoor concluded by saying, "If it was perfect, they wouldn't break up."

The actress had made these comments when she appeared on a show where Ranbir was also a guest.

In an interview with Cosmopolitan, Deepika Padukone opened up on heartbreak and said that infidelity is a deal-breaker for her. Without naming anyone, the actress expressed that the first time he cheated, she thought there was something wrong in their relationship or maybe with her. However, according to her, when things happened repeatedly, she understood that the problem was with him.

She said, "I give a lot in relationships and don't really expect much in return. But infidelity is the deal breaker."

The actress went on to add that a person loses respect and trust, which are the pillars of any relationship. She added that one is not supposed to "f*ck around with" these two factors.

In an interview with Stardust in 2011, Ranbir Kapoor accepted that he was the one who cheated. He said, "Yes, I have cheated, out of immaturity, out of inexperience, out of taking advantage of certain temptations, out of callousness."
