Amrit Kashyap, who made his Bollywood debut with ‘Chhichhore’, believes the entertainment industry demands patience and persistence. Calling it a long race rather than a quick win, the actor shared how navigating inconsistent opportunities pushed him to rethink his approach to work and career growth. During phases of downtime, Kashyap chose to focus on developing his storytelling skills. A graduate of Whistling Woods, he revealed to Mid-Day, “Writing has always been my strength. When I was studying in film school, I took screenwriting as an elective as I wanted to understand how films are written and made.” What began as a learning exercise gradually turned into a serious pursuit, with the actor now working on a full-fledged script.
Kashyap disclosed that his upcoming project draws heavily from his own life. Initially envisioned as a multi-part series, the idea has now evolved into a feature film after multiple revisions.
Explaining the shift, he said, “It is based on my life experiences, so it’s personal. It has happened several times that they didn’t want to cast me. I understood that the production houses might not want to put all their money on me. So, I took a pivot and [pitched it as] an ensemble project, with seven other leads.” He added that discussions are already underway with prominent production houses, although details remain under wraps.
Acknowledging the challenges of securing lead roles, Kashyap is now looking to create his own opportunities. “I want to write, direct, and produce to create opportunities for myself,” he shared, highlighting his ambition to take charge of his creative path rather than wait for roles to come his way.
