TOI Dialogues: Vikrant Massey on fatherhood and work-life balance - 'Vardaan is a good boy, doesn't even wake up at night'

This year, Vikrant Massey entered a new chapter of his life: parenthood. Reflecting on his journey as a father, Massey shared how profoundly life has changed since the birth of his son, Vardaan. Named in honor of Lord Mahadev, Vardaan has brought immense joy and a sense of blessing to Massey's family.

"Everything has changed," Massey said during his conversation with former journalist, RJ and presenter Richa Anirudh at TOI Dialogues held in Varanasi. "I am very lucky in this case as well. My son's name is Vardaan because my wife and all of us are big devotees of Mahadev. We named him Vardaan because he truly is a blessing in our lives," he added.

At just five months old, Vardaan has already brought a new sense of purpose and joy to his father. "He is a good boy, doesn't bother us much, and doesn't even wake up at night," Massey shared with a smile. "I am loving being a father and learning something new every day."



Balancing his career and family life, Massey has made conscious efforts to spend more time with his son. "I took a month off in April and have taken several breaks in May because I want to see him grow," he explained. "The nature of my job often keeps me away from family, but I'm learning that it's not impossible to work and spend time with them."


Despite his public persona, Massey values his privacy and prefers to keep his personal life out of the spotlight. "I find it intrusive when people want to know every detail about your life," he said. "The kind of work I do and the focus I have is actually because of the sanctity of my home. I just like to keep it private."



Not particularly tech-savvy, Massey enjoys a simple, tech-light lifestyle. "I have a laptop and an iPad, but I only use them for emails. I prefer going on set, doing my job, and coming back home. I think some aspects of life should remain private," he concluded.
