'Toxic' star Kiara Advani speaks on work-life balance: 'Burnout helps no one in any industry'

Kiara Advani has shared her thoughts on the ongoing eight-hour shift debate in Bollywood.

The discussion gained attention after reports about Deepika Padukone’s alleged exit from 'Spirit' and 'Kalki 2' over her demand for fixed working hours.

In a recent interview with Vogue India, Kiara made her stand clear in simple words. “Burnout helps no one in any industry,” she said. She added that overworking only harms people and their creativity.

Choosing balance, dignity, and respect

Kiara said she now strongly believes in balance and respect at work. She shared that she tries to follow three important values in life and work. “Dignity, balance, and respect,” she said, explaining that she applies these words equally to her staff at home and the crew on film sets. She also said mental health matters, not just for her, but for everyone around her.

Motherhood brings new clarity.

The actress welcomed her first child, daughter Saraayah, with husband Sidharth Malhotra in July. Kiara shared that becoming a mother has given her new clarity. She said she now chooses films based on the soul of the story and not the genre. She also revealed that she is reading many scripts, including a biopic that excites her a lot. According to Kiara, her drive is stronger now, but she is careful about her well-being.

'Toxic' first look and fan love

Kiara Advani will next be seen opposite Yash in 'Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups', set to release in March 2026. The makers recently released her first-look poster, introducing her character Nadia. The poster received huge love from fans. Thanking them, Kiara wrote on social media, “A role that demanded more from me, physically, mentally, and emotionally—and felt nothing short of transformative. My toughest one yet. Months of hard work. One fearless leap. To see this first look receive so much love means everything. Grateful beyond words."

This film marks Kiara’s first project after becoming a mother.
