Untold Love Stories: Abhishek Bachchan's romantic proposal to Aishwarya Rai in the same balcony where he once dreamed of their future
Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's love story is one of Bollywood’s most heartwarming and inspiring tales. It’s a journey of love, trust, and mutual respect that blossomed in front of the world, yet remained deeply personal.
Their love story began on the sets of the movie Dhai Akshar Prem Ke in 2000, where they first met. Over the years, they worked together in films like Kuch Naa Kaho and Dhoom 2, building a close friendship. But it wasn’t until they worked on Mani Ratnam’s Guru that their relationship took a romantic turn.
Abhishek has shared that during his time filming in New York, he often dreamed about being married to Aishwarya. When the right moment came, he took her to the same balcony of his hotel room where he had envisioned their life together and proposed to her. Aishwarya said yes, which marked the beginning of their forever.
What makes their love story truly special is how simple and pure it has always been. Abhishek proposed to her with a fake ring, the same one she wore in the movie Guru, and to Aishwarya, that gesture meant the world. In an interview, she said, “He is original and real, like our relationship. There is nothing predictable or boring about our life. We nurture each other. The gesture was spontaneous and meaningful. God has been kind to us. We can certainly afford those standard rocks. But do we need them."
Abhishek and Aishwarya made their relationship public after their engagement in January 2007 and got married in a beautiful, traditional South Indian wedding at the Bachchan residence in April the same year. Despite being two of the biggest stars in the world, they’ve kept their love grounded, always supporting each other through the highs and lows. They welcomed their daughter Aaradhya Bachchan on November 16, 2011.
