Urvashi Rautela’s tendency to fabricate self-generated news is causing a deep embarrassment for a section of the film industry. While one section of the entertainment sector remains indifferent to her publicity-seeking antics (“Ignore her,” advises a reality TV contestant) another much smaller section feels the actress needs to urgently address her need to be in the news.

“It isn’t healthy,” says a prominent filmmaker who feels Urvashi is damaging her career irreparably. “She is a pretty girl. She started her career as Sunny Deol’s leading lady (in Singh Saab The Great). But then her ambitions got the better of her. She didn’t see any big banners coming her way. So she decided to create a career of her own on the social media with the help of a very aggressive marketing team which ensures she makes news, even fabricated and false.”

The staggering list of Rautela’s falsifications in recent months range from a one-sided romance with cricketer Rishab Pant to a phantom film with the Kantara hero Rishab Shetty.

Who's next? Actor Rishab Chadha had better watch out.

Some people have an insatiable need to get attention. But surely there are less self-deceiving ways to call out for notice than to stage phantom romances and give oneself imaginary paychecks. The earlier attention-getter in showbiz with a similar bandwidth for self-deception was Rakhi Sawant. She is at least entertaining.
