Vicky Kaushal faced camera for the first time in Michael Winterbottom’s 'Trishna'

Today Vicky Kaushal has delivered industry hits like Chhaava, Sanju and Uri- The Surgical Strike but he began his journey in the most humble way. He was first an assistant director with Anurag Kashyap on Gangs Of Wasseypur and through a series of auditions made his debut with an ensemble film Masaan with names like Pankaj Tripathi, Richa Chaddha and Shweta Tripathi.

But Masaan was not the first time he faced the camera, the first time he was in front of the camera was for veteran British director Michael Winterbottom who is known for films like Wonderland, A Mighty Heart and many more. Michael Winterbottom was making a film called Trishna with Freida Pinto and Riz Ahmed in the lead.



In an interview with Pulkit Kochar opened up about the film when he was shown an image from the song he performed. Talking about it he said Anurag Kashyap saw him dancing at the wrap party of Gangs of Wasseypur in Banaras and a week later Kashyap asked him if he would do a song for this huge director Michael Winterbottom and the song would be on you and Huma.Vicky revealed that it was because of his relationship with Kashyap, he agreed to do the song and Kashyap also knew that he wanted to become an actor one day.


Vicky will now be seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War with Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, the film is slated to release in 2026. He and Ranbir both play Air Force office in the film and he had to lose a lot of weight for the lean frame of an Air Force officer as he was coming from Chhaava where he had taken his weight to 110 kgs. Vicky is also going to become a father as Katrina Kaif is expected to deliver their first child by November.
