Vidya Malavade on sharing screen space with Shah Rukh Khan in Chak De! India; says, ‘We were all like little fangirls’
Bollywood actress Vidya Malavade, who has worked in films like ‘Kidnap’, ‘Inteha’ and ‘1920: Evil Returns’, is gearing up for the release of her upcoming film ‘Ruslaan’ alongside Aayush Sharma. Recently, the actress recalled the time working with Shah Rukh Khan in one of the most loved Bollywood films ‘Chak De! India’.
During an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Vidya revealed that she initially didn't believe her part in ‘Chak De! India’ would become so popular. She said, “I did not think that Chak De! India would become like this and that my part would become so popular. I read the script and liked it. I wanted to be a part of the film. But we all knew it was a Yashraj film and had Mr Shah Rukh Khan in it, that was a big deal for all of us. We were all like little fangirls. We never worked with the mindset that the film would do very well.”
Vidya Malavade also disclosed how she wanted to work in a film with Shah Rukh Khan after they collaborated on an advertisement and then ‘Chak De! India’ happened. Vidya said, “By the time I came on board, I was one of the last people. By then we knew that Shah Rukh Khan was a part of this film. I had shot for an ad film with SRK just two days before I signed Chak De! India, but that time I didn’t tell him that I had auditioned for the part.”
Vidya also shared how Shah Rukh assisted other girls in facing the camera, she even called Shah Rukh a ‘generous actor’. She further added, “He would keep guiding all the other girls because a lot of them had never faced the camera before. He would make the scene our own and not just about him.”
On the work front, apart from ‘Ruslaan’, Vidya Malavade will be also seen in the third season of the OTT web series ‘Mismatched’.
