Vijay Sethupathi REACTS to 'Super Deluxe' losing chance to become India's entry for Oscars to Zoya Akhtar’s 'Gully Boy'

'Super Deluxe' did not become India's official entry for the Oscars despite making it to the shortlist, sparking a debate online. Addressing these concerns, Vijay Sethupathi provided a firm response but opted not to delve into the topic further.
Although Vijay acknowledged the disappointment for him and the Super Deluxe team, he avoided delving deeply into the topic. However, he quickly attributed the film's exclusion as India’s official entry to 'politics,' suggesting that there were underlying factors influencing the decision.

Elaborating further, the Farzi actor told Bollywood Hungama that the film's exclusion wasn't solely because of his involvement.Regardless of his presence in the film, he wished for its recognition. However, he alluded to something happening behind the scenes that he preferred not to discuss, deeming it unnecessary.

Super Deluxe, directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja, was a bold and unconventional film that received critical acclaim for its performances, storytelling, and fearless exploration of sensitive themes. The film's initial inclusion in the shortlist for India's Oscar entry generated excitement and anticipation. However, its ultimate exclusion left many fans disappointed.

He is currently promoting his upcoming film, Merry Christmas, scheduled to release on January 12. Directed by Sriram Raghavan, the movie also features Katrina Kaif. Based on a novel, the film is an adaptation of the source material.
