Filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane calls his upcoming film ‘

Bhavesh Joshi Superhero

’ a dream film. He’s always wanted to make a superhero film with cool stunts and slick action. His office is full of comic book stacks and he can talk about

Superman

,

Batman

and Spider-Man to no ends. A real comic book and superhero aficionado, Vikram lists out his five favourite superhero films of all time. This is one impressive list:

‘Superman’ (1978)

Superman

I’ve grown up watching those films; they’re a part of my childhood. Christopher Reeve’s films are the reason the world woke up to the idea of superhero films. It’s still one of the best origin stories ever told.

‘Superman II’ (1980)

Superman 2

Again, this film is one of the reasons why I love the superhero genre. It’s also one of the rare sequels that matches up to, if not, outdoes the prequel. The fight with General Zod and the romance with Lois Lane make this Superman movie perfect.

‘Batman Begins’ (2005)

Batman Begins

Chris Nolan

’s ‘Batman Begins’ suddenly brought in a whole new treatment and ethos to the Batman universe. What Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher did before was good, but what Nolan did was he brought grit, pathos and emotion into a character that you didn’t know could have all that. The first half of Batman begins is pure genius. It's one of the best things I’ve seen in all of cinema.

‘The Dark Knight’ (2008)

‘The Dark Knight’ is on another level of epic. It has to be one of the greatest superhero movies of all time. Its spectacle, its intensity and of course Heath Ledger’s performance make it a true blue classic.

‘Logan’ (2017)

Logan

I loved ‘Thor: Ragnarok’, ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ and ‘Captain America: Civil War’, but ‘Logan’ did for me what none of these films could. It brought in a certain raw and visceral emotion with

Wolverine

’s end story. It’s a superb film.
