Director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri

is currently

shooting

in Bhopal, since the last few days for his upcoming movie ‘

The Last Show

’. He is shooting the movie in the old parts of Bhopal with actors like Anupam Kher, Satish Kaushik and wife Pallavi Joshi. Other local actors and performing artists too are a part of this project as he thinks that Bhopal is a melting pot of different cultures and this is his contribution to make people aware of the

forgotten art forms

of the country.

A Bhopal’s local

Qawwali

is being featured in this project that will be seen singing in the entire movie. The director met with a lot of groups in the city and chose this one. “I have grown up in Bhopal listening to a lot of amazing Qawwali groups.

Shakeela Bano

was a very popular singer of that time and one of my favourite too. But the people don’t care much about these rare gems which the city possesses and hence I thought I will try to contribute as much as I can for them. I chose this particular group because they were not very famous and they have a raw and earthy voice” shares the

director.

Vivek experimented with this group in his movie because he didn’t record them at any studio. “Whatever plays in the background is most of the time recorded in the studio but to get more feel I made the group sing live. I enjoyed working with them so much. They sat and sang in the scorching heat and didn’t even utter a word to express their discomfort. Whatever I asked them they did it without questioning” adds the

director.
